A Diary Of A Seven Day Fast – Day 6 (140 Hours, “Ready To Be Done Phase”)
The last twenty-four hours have been, well, nearly uneventful. My condition hasn’t changed. My body has seemed to fully adapt to the absence of food. I have fairly low energy, but I am actually very alert, mentally. I can’t move very rapidly without tiring, but I feel calm, relaxed and at peace. The world has slowed down. I am generally out of touch with the rigors and convulsions of a daily life that involves a daily fight where I wrench my aspirations from the hand we call this earth. It’s been a good break.
Which means…that I’ve decided to stop a day early. So it’s a six day fast. Why dodge the last day? Because I have no reason to believe at this point that I’m going to feel any more relaxed tomorrow than I am today. I’ve had the break that I wanted to have. Now, I’m eager to get back to work. It’s been a very interesting experience so far, and I’m glad to have done it. At the same though, I’m physically fatigued enough right now to prevent me from doing much.
It’s time to put my feet back where they belong. On the pavement running.
