Cubicle Unhappy to Biking Expedition (C.U.B.E.)
Here you will find everything about the bike tour all in one place.
On June 27, 2008, I was sitting in my cubicle, thinking about my life, and I had an epiphany. I decided to make a concerted effort to leave my cubicle and ride across America hoping to do good things along the way for strangers. The full post about it can be found here, and below is the initial video that launched the event.
In the days and weeks after the launch, I received support from bloggers regarding the event.
Go here to read the terrific interview about the trip at Destination Unknown.
Go here for the guest post on Lifereboot about the event.
After a couple of months of trying, I failed to raise the money privately that I needed so I could go. I discussed the failure in this post.
Not wanting to give up, I decided to begin an Internet fundraiser that would help me raise the money so I can go before winter arrives. I presented the idea in full, in this post.
The video I made for that event is below.
In order for this to be a success, I am accepting donations from people who would like to help, and I also need the support of other bloggers who are willing to write about the trip and even ask other bloggers they know to do the same.
In an effort to make the fundraiser interesting, I plan to give a rudis, which is the symbolic gift representing my freedom to a blogger who is able to help raise the most. To participate, all you need to do is instruct any readers of yours who have donated to send the PayPal notification to dereck@iwillnotdie.com saying which site they came from.
If enough people can get involved, I believe this will take off and I will be able to go before winter.
Here is the article that talks about the math necessary to raise enough money in the timeframe I have set as a goal.
Here is an article I wrote that talks about the value of the trip, as opposed to some of the negativity I have received as a result of asking for charity.
Here is an article that explains why this is so important to me.
Below is a list of all the bloggers who have been able to help so far. If you are able to help, let me know and I will add you to the list.
People who have helped so far:

Robert at Flimjo mentioned the fundraiser in his weekly recap.

Sanity Found had a great idea and suggested I sign up for Pledgie, which allows people to place a donation widget on their site, which she placed on her sidebar, similar to the picture I am using. If anyone is interested in using the service, they can get the widget here.
Adam from adampieniazek.com devoted a generous portion of his weekly web quotes to my dream.
Justin wrote a fantastic article about the trip and included a lot about the background of my dream, from beginning to end.
