Some Site Updates

Several interesting things are going on at the moment and I wanted to share some of them with you. Most notably, there has been a sizeable traffic surge coming from several sources.
Two of the “Smart People” articles were re-seeded on Reddit over Saturday and Sunday (which is strange, because I didn’t know that was possible–does anyone know if the submissions on sites like that expire?). A full tenth of all-time site traffic came over yesterday and today.
But interestingly, several articles were hit hard from StumbleUpon as well.
In search of a good pear was hit pretty hard yesterday. This was strange, because I think a lot of people didn’t know quite what to make of the enigmatic fictional story that cropped up out of nowhere. It was submitted to some blog carnivals that host writing pieces, and soon after it was published, it took off. It felt nice to see something I wrote, that I felt had significant substance to it, get so much attention. I’ll have to try that again.
As I’m writing this, Why our day jobs make us inhuman, it also getting hit from StumbleUpon. And what the heck, if any of you are StumbleUpon users, and want to help promote this site, I’d be very thankful if you had the time to thumb up it too.
On to the bike ride: It’s getting close, and I’m not quite where I need to be in order to go, safely [grins at wife]. I was able to do a fairly large local promotion over this weekend, so I hope it helps. I have another one coming up, so cross your fingers. I’ll keep everyone posted as it gets down to the wire.
I hope everyone had a lovely weekend.
